Pancho was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Maplecrest Baptist Church in Vidor. He retired as the warehouse foreman for Vidor Independent School District where he also served on the School Board for several years. He was a founder of Vidor Teachers Federal Credit Union and served on the Board of Directors for 44 years. Pancho spent 6 years in the Texas National Guard 111 Engineering Division as First Sergeant. In his younger years Pancho was a Boy Scout, member of FFA where he would show calves at the SETX State Fair. He was a Champion Bull Dogger in 1954, in 1963 until 1965 he was a licensed barber in Beaumont. He loved fishing and was an avid fox hunter. Pancho married the love of his life, Theo Matthews, in 1957 at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Beaumont. Pancho was a devoted father who loved and cherished his children.
Surviving Pancho are his loving wife, Theo Houston of Vidor; Son, Theodore Houston and his wife Becky of Opelousas, LA; daughter, Barbara Hess of Vidor; sisters, Ruby Sikes of Vidor, Darlene Houston of Beaumont, Ann LoBue of Beaumont; brother, Pete Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A Celebration of Pancho's life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
