Mary "Kay" Catherine (Bryant) Bounds, age 77, of Beaumont, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Kay was born January 15,1944 in Beaumont, Texas to William Ricks Bryant, Sr. and Mary Catherine Buteaud Bryant.
Kay grew up in Beaumont and was a part of the last class to graduate from St. Anthony High School in 1961. She was married to her husband, Elliott Bounds, in 1964 at St. Anthony Cathedral. Together, they raised 3 wonderful daughters. Kay was a key punch operator for Gulf States, as well as a sales consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Kay was a great wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed playing bridge and poker, taking any opportunity she could to visit the casinos. She and Elliott both loved to bowl, and she was the president of the Early Runners Bowling League. Kay was a magnificent cook, and her dishes such as fried chicken, chicken spaghetti, banana pudding, and apple cake were the favorites of her family and friends. She was a strong, selfless woman who believed in the strength of prayer.
Kay is survived by her husband, Elliott Bounds; her daughters Kristine Smith and husband Greg, Linda Bounds, and Shannon Bounds; her brothers Jack Bryant, Ricks Bryant, and Johnny Bryant; her grandchildren Justin Smith, Chase Smith, and Ellye Grace; and great granddaughter Sutton Smith. Kay also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
Kay was preceded in death by her father William Ricks Bryant, Sr. and her mother Mary Catherine Buteaud Bryant.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Kay will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 9:00 AM with a Rosary at 10:30 AM, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703. A Celebration of Kay's Life will occur after her Rosary at 11:00 AM, with her burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Devotion.
