Josephine Davis, 91 a lifelong resident of Beaumont, passed away on Saturday December 17, 2016 in Beaumont. Mrs. Davis was born on July 30, 1925 in Loeb, Texas to her parents Lovan “Tyne” Hamshire and Elizabeth Ainsworth Hamshire. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-plus years Wayne Davis, six brothers; Ike, James, Frank, Leon, Johnny, Louie, five sisters; Eva, Vicey, Vinnie, Emaline, Tiny, two grandchildren; Joel Hicks, Keely King, and two great grandchildren; Mason King and Trinity Laubach. She and her husband were co- owners and operators of Beaumont Frame and Front End. Mrs. Davis was a Baptist by faith and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She loved dancing with her husband, travelling extensively throughout the United States, spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. She also was a huge fan of the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys.
She is survived by her son; Escar Wayne “Bubba” Davis, Jr. of Lumberton, three daughters; Linda Tinkle and husband J.W. of Beaumont, Joyce Pierce and husband John of Lumberton, Margaret King and husband Mickey of Brandon, Mississippi, sister-in-law; Vesta Worthey of Texas City, longtime family friend; Lucy Jones of Beaumont, thirteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service time of 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A reception will immediately follow the cemetery committal service at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
