James Cleon Metcalf, Jr., 86, of Hemphill, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. James was born November 24, 1925, in Possum Trot, Texas to James and Sadie Metcalf and was a resident of Hemphill for the past 20 years and was also a former resident of Lumberton. He retired from National Linen Service and was the owner of Jim’s Janitorial.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Metcalf; son, Thomas Lee Metcalf; brother, Charles Delton Metcalf and half-brothers, Eldridge Randy Permenter and Richard Jackson Permenter.
He is survived by his son, James O. Metcalf and wife Clara of Nederland; daughter, Connie J. Plake and husband Pat of Lumberton; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
