James William (Bill) Mayo, born September 6, 1946, in Vidor, Texas, passed away peacefully, on Friday, October 11, 2024, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel Nettle and Floyd Mayo, and his son, Ryan Allen Mayo.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Martin Mayo, and his son, Ross Davis Mayo of Round Rock, his stepdaughter Dianna Johnson and her husband, Billy Johnson of Cedar Park, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Cole William and Avery Claire Johnson, Isabel Marie Mayo, James Davis Mayo, and Jackson William Mayo.
Bill spent most of his life in the Coastal Bend area, particularly enjoying the beauty of Key Allegro. He was a South Park High graduate in Beaumont, a Houston Astros and Houston Texans fan, and had a passion for golf, fishing, and hunting, which brought him joy and connected him with his sons and friends over the years. Bill was also a successful businessman, owning a thriving business with his wife in Rockport since 1998 called Rockport Printing. Bill and Peggy recently retired after 25 years of serving Rockport and surrounding areas.
Bill spent his final days enjoying the view of Little Bay, sitting with family, and watching the sunset, which he enjoyed the most. His family and friends will deeply miss him. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and dedication to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service is planned in Beaumont at Forest Lawn on Saturday, October 19 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.
