Henry Alexander Morgan

Henry Alexander (Teck) Morgan quietly passed away in his home on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in LaGrange, TX. Henry was born in Kennard, TX on June 23, 1925, to Alvin Dewitt Morgan and Eva Amanda Brown Morgan. He was the middle child of 7 children. He worked the farm with his parents until he entered the Navy in 1943. He was stationed at the Naval Air Base in Kingsville, TX for the duration of World War II. It was there that he met Nellie Mae Smith of La Grange, TX (daughter of A.V. Smith and Fay Chalk Smith), who was attending Texas A&I University.

They were married on July 24, 1945, in La Grange, TX at the Kellog Home which is now known at Brendan Manor. To this union was born four children: Beverly Ann, Marinell, Thomas Alvin, and Joseph Willard. After the War, he and Nell moved to Galveston where “Teck” went to work for Texas Gulf Sulfur as a crane operator from 1947 to 1985. In 1960, he was transferred to Beaumont, TX.

On May 17, 1963, Henry was raised to a Master Mason of South Park Lodge 1320 AF & AM of Beaumont. Henry served as Worshipful Master from 1976 to 1977 at South Park 1320. He would go on to serve in the Masonic lodges in Crockett, TX and La Grange, TX as well in the coming years.

During the next four years after 1963, he attended Lamar University to get his GED and then completed his certification in air conditioning and refrigeration. Henry and his family attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Beaumont, TX until after Nell’s death and his retirement. Then Joe and he moved to the family farm in La Grange, TX where he attended Travis Street United Methodist Church and later would attend First United Methodist Church of La Grange. In 1988, Henry moved to Crockett, TX to help care for his mother.

On July1, 1989, he married Evelyn Russell Doyle, who passed from this life in 2007. Henry returned to La Grange in 2004 where he has lived with his daughter Beverly and family since. Henry is survived by his daughters: Beverly Ann Morgan Gray and spouse Eddy Joe Gray of La Grange. TX and Marinell Linscomb and spouse Everett Linscomb Jr of Beaumont, TX; son Thomas Alvin Morgan of La Grange, TX; daughter-in law Angela Morgan of Minnesota; sister: Billie Jean Doyle of Austonio, TX; sister-in-law Claudine Morgan of Richardson, TX; granddaughter Lorie Ann Machinsky and spouse Dustin Machinsky of Columbus, TX; grandsons: Andrew Joe Gray and spouse Victoria Harris Gray of La Grange, Jacob Aaron Morgan and spouse Cherri Morgan of La Grange, TX; adopted granddaughter Meranda Morgan Penisson of Gatesville, TX; Step-grandson Dustin Linscomb and spouse Traci of Utah; Step-granddaughter Brianna Nicole Butler of Minnesota; great-granddaughters: Catherine Alexis Marks of Columbus, TX and Allie Marie Morgan of La Grange, TX; great grandsons: Christopher Carl Marks and Matthew Michael Marks of Columbus, TX, Joseph Patrick Gray and Alexander Royce Morgan of La Grange, TX; step-great granddaughter Sydney Linscomb of Utah and Lillie Linscomb of Utah : Step- great grandsons: Skylar Hutton and Kyle Hutton of Minnesota; Adopted great grandsons: Tanner, Brayden, Dillon and Matthew Riley of Texas and numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews and cousins and friends. Henry is preceded in death by his first wife Nellie Mae Smith Morgan(1979), parents Alvin Dewitt and Eva Amanda Morgan of Austonio, TX , son: Joseph Willard Morgan(2011); brothers: Nolan Dewitt Morgan and spouse Edna of Houston, TX, Alvin Brown (Petie) Morgan of Houston, TX, and Donald Roy(T) and spouse Johnnie of Donie, TX; sisters: Madelle Eloise Morgan McCaskill and spouse Harold Mc Caskill of Centerville, TX and Jackie Burch and spouse Robert Burch of Austonio, TX; brother-in-law Calvin Doyle of Austonio, TX; grandson Michael Edward Gray of Beaumont, TX; and his dearest friend Marie Hensel of La Grange, TX; brothers-in law Jesse Smith and spouse Valery Smith of La Grange, TX and Robert Smith of Austin, TX. Father and Mother-in law A.V. Smith and spouse Fay Chalk Smith of La Grange, TX

Services to be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery in Beaumont, TX.

Visitation to be held 12:00-2:00pm
