Dorothy E Rice

She was preceded in death by her husband George N. Rice, Jr.; her mother and father, Stephen and Mattie Bell Young; four brothers, Grady, Elmo, James Monroe and Gordon Lee Young; three sisters, Ethel Sonnier, Lois Sonnier and Ola Mae Phillips.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Rice and wife Janelle of Lumberton.; three grandchildren, Carrie Bryant and husband W T of Lumberton; Ronnie Rice II of Beaumont and Meagan Sons and husband Steve of Vidor; five great grandsons, Ethan and Cade Bryant, Troy Rice, Karson Guidry and Tray Sons.

The sunshine of Dorothy’s life was her grandchildren and great grandson’s, particularly Ethan who she loved to take “train looking”.

Dorothy had a long career in banking starting with American National Bank and retiring from Texas Commerce Bank after 38 years of service.

She was cofounder and a charter member of Dawndale Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas.

The Rice family would like to thank the staff of Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home for their attentive care.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
