A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Don was born June 18, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Robert and Ethel Aycock. He graduated from Beaumont High School. He attended his beloved Texas A & M University, graduated from the American Institute of Banking and School of Banking of the South at LSU. He was a deputy sheriff of Jefferson County and served in the United States Army as a military police. He spent over 40 years of his life in the banking industry, serving in multiple management positions including president and CEO of First Texas in Vidor, and CEO of Citizens Bank in Sour Lake and Kountze where he retired in 2006. He was the past president of the Kountze Chamber of Commerce and he was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Don was an avid collector of coins, stamps and WWII history. He spent countless hours scrapbooking personal and historical events. He enjoyed playing poker and spent the last 40 years playing with the same group of faithful friends.
Don is survived by his three daughters, Tracey Aycock of Austin, Texas, Donna Weir and her husband, Todd, of Boerne, Texas, and Mendi Short and her husband, Todd, of Beaumont, Texas as well as his four grandchildren, Anna Kate and Harrison Weir and Nina Grace and Sadie Short.
