David Wesley Andrus, Jr., age 88, of Beaumont, Texas passed away November 13, 2011. He was born June 14, 1923 in Beaumont, Texas to David and Marguerite Andrus. He volunteered for the Army during WWII and served in the European theater until the end of the war. He was a switchman for the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in 1987 after 38 years of service.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, T.H. Andrus; grandson, Brandon Andrus; and great grandson, Ethan Verdine. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margureate Andrus; daughter, Sharron Andrus Stapleton; son, Gilbert Andrus and wife, Carol; grandsons, Andy Andrus and wife, Stacy, Harry Stapleton IV, David Stapleton and wife, Brandi; granddaughter, Emily Verdine and husband, Chris; great grandsons, Wesley, Nathan, and Easton Stapleton, Harrison and Mason Verdine; great granddaughters, Kristian and Andi Rae Andrus; Drake Mercer and Barrett Hamilton; both loved as a part of the family.
David was a member of the Church of Christ for over 60 years and attended Dowlen Road Church of Christ. Special thanks to Max and Lee Dawson who were his friends and spiritual helpers through many years, as well as all the brothers and sisters at Dowlen. Many thanks to Dr. Eric Marks and staff. Also Professional Home Health, Coastal Caregivers, Harbor Hospice, and the physicians, nurses, and caregivers involved in his care.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, November, 16, 2011 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services to be held following visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
