Charles Edward McCleskey, age 95, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Irene, TX., he was a longtime resident of Beaumont, and worked for Magnolia Refinery and eventually retired as an engineer with Mobil Oil in Beaumont. Charles attended night school at Lamar and graduated where he received his BA/Business degree to move into management at Mobil Oil. The last 5 years, he worked overseas in Saudi Arabia, and he and Jean Anne were able to travel the world. He retired, then did contract work for turn arounds in Torrance, CA a few times. After retiring he, Jean Anne, and his mom traveled in their motor home around the country for a few years. Charles was a jack of all trades, Master of None, he tried to do repairs himself before having to call the repairman. Charles enjoyed gardening his flowers and vegetables. Charles was 1945 graduate of South Park High School where he played football for the South Park Greenies. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy for a short time before transferring to the United States Army during the Korean War. He always had a twinkle in his eye and liked to wink at you. He was a selfless, giving, wonderful person and family man. He loved his friends and family with his whole heart. He was a dedicated member of Christian Fellowship Church in Beaumont.
A Celebration of Charles' Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. A Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the funeral home.
Charles is survived by his daughter Lillian Eileen McCleskey McMillian and her husband Jerry of Vidor, granddaughter Amy Eileen McMillian Morrisette and her husband Allen, great granddaughters Hannah Michelle Morrisette and Leah Miller Morrisette, all of Greenville, NC., stepsons George Weir and his wife Kathy, and their son George Weir Jr, Michael Weir and his wife Lauren, Terry Gordy and his family, step granddaughter Krystan Bacevich and her family, and his trusted companion, Keeper.
Charles was preceded in death by his 1st wife Jean Anne Giddings McCleskey, his 2nd wife Patricia Harland Weir McCleskey, and by his parents, Oscar Benson McCleskey and Ina Mae Barnes McCleskey.
Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
