Betty was born and raised in China, Texas, and graduated from China High School. From there she went on to work at the Tax Office in China as a recording secretary. She met her husband Don Watson and they married in 1956. Betty was reserved and quiet, but enjoyed helping others. Betty enjoyed gardening, reading, taking photographs, and going to the beach. She also enjoyed teaching at Sunday school and vacation bible school. She would often write letters to communicate with servicemen who were from China. She loved to play with her grandchildren. When her grandchildren were born and would play, she would get on the floor and play with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred Lee McCown and Crystal Sherman McCown, son Richard Watson, brothers Dale McCown and Donald Lee McCown, and sisters Carole Brady and Audrey Merle McCown.
She is survived by her husband Don Watson, son Jerry Watson and his wife Tina Watson, daughter Gay Vosburgh and her husband Donald Vosburgh, grandchildren Robert Vosburgh, Nathan Vosburgh, and Matthew Vosburgh, Christopher Watson, Elizabeth Bush, Kimberly Vosburgh, and Darlene Vosburgh, and 9 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends for Betty will be held on Thursday, January 26th, from 4-8 P.M. and a celebration of her life will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 27th, at 10 A.M.
