Alfred "Lupee" Perez, age 66, of Kountze, Texas passed away at his home on Wednesday May 6, 2020. "Lupee" was born January 31, 1954 in Galveston, Texas to Mary "Peaches" Martinez and Edward "Lalo" Perez Sr.
Alfred grew up with his family in Beaumont, Texas. He was a South Park Greenie, where he played saxophone in the band. As a teenager he worked at Burger Chef. Alfred worked at Exxon Mobil in the Analyzer Group for 39 years. After retiring, Alfred started a new career with O'Reilly Auto Parts, where he became Territorial Sales Manager. Alfred loved to bowl and was an avid golfer as a member of the Exxon Mobil Golf Association. He also was involved in dog rescue for 5 years, where his love for animals led to the adoption of a sizable pack of dogs.
Alfred was a lover of music, especially 60's soul. He was also a Christian man with a love for gospel hymns. Alfred loved his family, and after his father passed he assumed the role of family patriarch. He loved to have a conversation and never met a stranger. Alfred loved to make you laugh and would go out of his way to make you smile, no matter how frustrated it made you. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
"Lupee" is survived by his wife, Julia Churchwell Perez; daughter Brittney Luna; step sons Jeremy Beard; Jarrod and wife Erin Reed; brothers Edward Perez Jr., Andrew Perez Sr., Robert Perez, and Johnny Perez; grandchildren Brittany Beard (USAF), Blade Beard, Madelyn West-Reed, Jaylon Reed, Kylie Luna, Kaden Luna, Karson Luna, and Kynzie Luna; and his top 3 girls Chiquita, Dezi, and Henley.
"Lupee" was preceded in death by his father Edward "Lalo" Perez Sr., mother Mary "Peaches" Martinez, and sister Rosie Perez Istre.
A Gathering of Family and Friends for Alfred will be held Friday, May 8, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Alfred's Life will occur Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with his burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park to follow. The service will be broadcast on Facebook Live on the Forest Lawn Funeral Home page.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Beard, Jarrod Reed, Jamie Perez, Tyler Schofield, Tommy Tribes, Chris Thierheimer, with honorary pallbearers Edward Perez Jr., Andrew Perez Sr, Robert Perez, and Johnny Perez.
