Beloved husband, father, and grandfather John William Corley, 88, passed away Thursday, March 30. Born September, 25, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia John attended Tech High where he was a member of the ROTC. As a teenager he held a paper route and went on to work as a printer for the Miami News and Los Angeles Times, from which he retired in 1992.
A lifelong music enthusiast, John enjoyed the early days of Rock-N-Roll and Rhythm & Blues but was known best for his love of Country & Western music. He was a dedicated and accomplished line dancer and choreographer of the style. His other hobbies included wood working, Civil War history, classic cars, and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Walteen Goforth Corley in 2006. He is survived by his son, Walt Corley; daughters Sarah (Corley) Gallwey and Dorothy Williams Lamb; grandchildren Kris Gallwey, Matt Gallwey, Bret Gallwey, Kodi Corley, Cree Corley, Gordon Lamb, Veronica Lamb McWilliams, and the late Rachel Walteen Lamb. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and his dance partner and companion of the past ten years Julie Hansen. Services will be held Wednesday, April 5 at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont, CA.
