Dawn E. Walton, beloved family member, world traveler and local Coachella Valley volunteer, passed away peacefully in Rancho Mirage on October 16. She was 96 years old.
Born on May 10, 1925, in Los Angeles, she spent most of her life in California, though she also lived briefly in Oregon, Utah and Nevada.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harvey; her parents Lou and Jessie Reneau; and her brother, Travis. She leaves behind her son, Robbie Walton; five nephews (Scott Reneau, Kevin Reneau, Gary Reneau, Gregg Reneau, Brad Reneau) and a niece (Paige Reneau).
Dawn worked as a bookkeeper for several automobile agencies during her career, including South Bay Chevrolet in Chula Vista CA, the dealership owned by her family.
She married Harvey Walton in June 1954, and they adopted a son (Robbie).
Later in life, she became a dedicated traveler, visiting spots such as London, Italy, France, Austria, Hong Kong, Turkey, Egypt, Chile and several other European and South American countries.
She also volunteered countless hours at the Eisenhower Medical Center and for the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament.
An avid reader, Dawn also loved crossword puzzles and games on her iPad, as well as spending time with her family
A private service will be held at a later date at her burial site at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA. The family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation in lieu of flowers.
