Today we lost our best friend. Yvonne Louise Harriman ""Teedles"" Slagle passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. Yvonne was born in Lafayette, IN but called Texas her home.
She was 81 years old when she went to join all of her loved ones who preceded her in death: parents, Newell J. and Mary K. Harriman; sister, Norma J. Brown; brother, Glenn P. Harriman; infant daughter, Tisa Louise Slagle; and the love of her life, husband Edward E. ""Gene"" Slagle.
Left behind to celebrate her life are daughters, Mindy McInturff and husband, Tom and Holli Bentz and husband, Chris; son and daughter-in-law, Newell Slagle and wife, Holly; and grandchildren, Donovan McInturff and wife, Melissa, Yvonne Fenoglio and husband, Chip, Jennifer Garrick and husband, Bill, Schaun Freeman and wife, Courtney, Joshua Freeman, and Ariel, Tristan, and Mia Slagle. She also boasted of her 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, dear friend, Sharon Herrington, and the mother of her Christianity, Elaine Kirkland.
Yvonne was a lifetime member of Central Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her Central family. Even as a military dependent wife, she never forgot her roots at Central.
In her 53 years of marriage, she went wherever the military sent Edward and was able to make each place a home. After his retirement, she decided to work out of the home, so she became a much sought-after apartment manager in Houston and eventually, Baytown. Asked of her greatest achievements she would tell you it was her sustained marriage and her children. She loved life, had a wonderful sense of humor, and touched everyone's life when she met them. We will mourn our loss but celebrate the wonderful life she lived and the beautiful life she's enjoying now.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be Friday, September 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Wells officiating. At her request, she was cremated.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 1800 King St., Baytown, TX 77520.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX, 77521 (281) 422-8111.
