William Gilbert ""Bill"" Carson, 79, of Baytown was born January 23, 1932 in San Antonio and passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 in a local hospital. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was a very artistic man who loved woodworking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Orville Browning and W. G. Carson, Sr.; son, Robert L. Carson; and brothers, Chester W. Carson and Orville Browning, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Carson and sons and daughter-in-law, Charles D. Carson, Glen and Dee Pelts, all of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Jeff Slaton of Rainbow, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Peggy Browning of Dolph, AR, James F. and Lucille Carson of San Antonio, Nathan and Sandra Browning of Killeen, Richard and Karen Browning of Montgomery, AL, and Lorene McHorse and husband, Ray of San Antonio; grandchildren, Joshua and Shawn Slaton, Joshua and Macayla Carson, and Landon Pelts; great grandchildren, Sierra, Trinity, and Brayden Slaton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 712 Schilling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Bill Schwertlich officiating. At his request, he will be cremated afterwards.
Serving as pallbearers will be Landon Pelts, Shawn Slaton, Joshua Slaton, John Holmes, Jeff Slaton, and Dennis Salo.
