Wilbur Rankin Smith was a member of the Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church. He also worked for and retired from Exxon where he had many friends.
He was quite a gentleman. He loved boating and fishing. He started out fly fishing with his dad in the creeks of Durant, OK. He also loved teaching his boys to boat and ski. They all loved swimming too. That is all part of raising boys. Having one daughter who loved her dad very much and being a daddy's girl was very special to him too. He loved driving his tractor and golf cart even after his stroke. He also loved the country home that he shared with his family and had so many good memories of Point Barrow with all of the birthdays, Christmas' and just gathering with family.
Rankin was the kind of man any girl would love to bring home to the parents. Gentle, kind, loving and thoughtful. Always ready to give of himself and give a second chance to whoever needed it.
Yes, he was a Christian, no doubt about it. God had a plan for him and used him for good only. Now he is no longer in any pain and is not suffering. His tired achy body can go home and be brand new and happy with his family.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Mary Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Smith; children, Michael Smith and wife, Nancy, Doug Smith and wife Dana, Sandra Tash and husband, Bill, John Smith and wife, Kristin, Paul Smith and wife, Fannie, Jim Morgan and wife, Diane, Wendy Hughes and husband, Kevin, Hank Rossell and wife, Crystal, Travis Ray, Max Maldonado and wife, Jennifer and son-in-law, Charles Keen as well as over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
