Ruth Caver Davis of Highlands, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the age of 90, after a short illness. Ruth was born in Crosby, Texas on December 20, 1933 to William and Vera (Davenport) Caver. She was the last surviving sibling of their eleven children.
In November, 1952, she married Harry C. Davis. Together they raised a family of two sons, Richard (“Rick”) Davis and Darrel Davis. Throughout the years, she worked as a bookkeeper for various companies and also assisted Harry with his businesses. Together with their boys, they were very involved in rodeoing over the years. Ruth loved to read and cook, she also enjoyed crafting. She enjoyed family get togethers and she and Harry hosted numerous family reunions when they lived in Rye, Texas. Ruth and her brother-in-law Pnut were very interested in genealogy and family history. Luckily her husband Harry and her sister Helen were willing to go along for the ride to visit cemeteries, libraries and county courthouses throughout Texas to learn more about the Caver and Davenport families.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harry, son Darrel, granddaughter Cassie Blankley, her parents William and Vera (Davenport) Caver, sisters and brothers-in-law Ivy and Joe Henderson, Inez and Leonard Cowley, Alvis and Tex Faubion, Eleanor and Roy McNatt, Nell and Lonnie Sellers, Doris Davis, Helen and Pnut Jacobs and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Anna Belle Caver, Tommy Caver, and Dale and Deanna Caver. She is survived by her son Rick Davis (Barbara), granddaughter Cheyenne Davis, grandson Chad Blankley, sister-in-law Bobbie Caver and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Donnie Jacobs, Timothy Luedicke, Milton Sellers, Thomas Sellers, Randy Shirley and Hunter Curbow. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Blankley and Justin Music.
A gathering of family and friends for Ruth will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 1:30 PM, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
