Opal Rome

Opal Rome, 88, of Baytown, TX, passed away on April 3, 2013. She was born July 7, 1924, in Colfax, La. She met the love of her life in Baton Rouge, LA, and they were married on July 11, 1947. They raised their family in Baton Rouge, until moving to Baytown, TX, in 1959.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Anthony S. Rome, Sr.; brother, Joe Powell; two sisters, LaDoris Holland and Martha Braswell.

She is survived by two daughters, Kaye Gray and husband Larry and Lisa Rome; two sons, Skip Rome and wife Renee and Reggie Rome and wife Pam; two sisters, Mary Hodges and Jaye Peuoteaux; brother, J.B. Powell; grandchildren, Brett Gray and wife Meagan, Chad Gray and wife Cassie, Rachael Buell and husband Brandon, Kyle Rome, Tyler Rome, Zac Rome; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Buell, Hannah Claire Buell, Corbin Buell, Paige Rome, Blake Gray, Taylor Gray and Carter Gray.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James House, 5800 W Baker Rd, Baytown, TX 77521.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. James House, for their years of caring.

A graveside service will be on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd., with Rev. Roy Cloudt officiating.
