Michael Leon Lawrence died November 13, 2020. Born in Valdosta, Georgia on February 26, 1969 to Vivian Harrison Lawrence, he and his mother traveled back to Texas when he was 2 weeks old. He was raised in Baytown by his mother and grandparents, Vernon and Claire Harrison.
Michael grew up in the Goose Creek school system attending San Jacinto Elementary, Baytown Junior High, and his beloved Robert E Lee High School. While at Lee, he was a member of the JROTC, football team, Christian Student Union, and a Gander Carrier his senior year. Throughout high school, he was a member of the First Baptist Church (Rollingbrook Fellowship) youth group. After graduating in 1987 from Robert E. Lee, Michael attended Lee College where, as a member of the Baptist Student Union, he met his first wife, Denise Voris. They were married in 1989 and had one daughter, Michaela Rae Lawrence of whom he adored.
After working in the plants for over 20 years, Michael was dismissed because of health problems. After working several odd jobs, Michael had his first heart attack in 2012. While in the hospital, he reconnected with his high school crush, Susan Butaud. The day he was released from the hospital, they went on their first date seeing the movie Wreck It Ralph and sharing a meal at El Toro’s. They married eight months later on July 6, 2013 where he not only got a wife, but a new daughter that he loved, Sydnie Butaud.
A lifelong Texas A&M, Dallas Cowboy and Houston Astro fan, Michael knew more about statistics, players, and trivia than most. Although he and Susan did not share a love for football, they adored watching Astros baseball together.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother and grandparents, cousin BJ Harrison, Aunt Cindy Harrison, and his father-in-law, Arthur Butaud Sr. who he lovingly referred to as Poppy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, his daughters Michaela and Sydnie, his mother-in-law, Fonda Butaud, sister-in-law Kellie Butaud Skarda (Scott), brother-in-law Arthur Butaud Jr.(Kelly), and nieces Ashlee Glatter, Lauren Butaud Moorehead (Jared), Alyssa Skarda (Danny), and Hope Thorne, his future son-in-law Trey Willis, Uncle Bill Harrison, and Aunt Becky Harrison Dukarm (Edward), and cousins, Donald Dukarm, Paul Dukarm, Robert Reynolds, and Chris Harrison.
After cremation, a celebration of life is being planned for February, 26, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted to help pay for Michael’s medical bills.
