She was well known in the Highlands area for her generosity and helping hand to those in need. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ enabled her to serve those with whom she came in contact. She loved her family, her dear friends, and her Lord. She taught Sunday school for more than 25 years. She believed and taught that Jesus was always near and that He is good. She said, ""As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."" She walked by faith as a Christian and was a life-long Baptist.
Jane was the second of eleven children born to Molten Lafayette Gibson and Flora Catherine (Treadway) Gibson. She was born on January 12, 1920, at home in Midway, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Curtis Parrish, Sr., two grandsons, Tommy Johns and Jason Froehner, brothers Tarzan Gibson, Gip Gibson, Kail (Bull) Gibson, Molten (Mack) Gibson and Kenneth Gibson, and sisters, Ervie David and Alline Carr.
She is survived by one son, Charles Curtis Parrish, Jr., and wife Carole, of Highlands, TX, who lovingly cared for her during the last years of her life, keeping her at home and ministering to her every need; three daughters, Gloria Jean Falknor and husband, David, of Fayetteville, AR, Patsy Gail (Parrish) Lewis of Anahuac, TX, and Shirley Kathryn Froehner and husband, Gary, of Kingsland, TX; five grandsons, David Falknor, Jr. and wife Kathy, Douglas Falknor and wife Lisa, Lt. Charles Johns and wife Shawna, Dr. Jerald Froehner and wife Ingrid, and Charles Curtis Parrish III; six granddaughters, Julie Silhan and husband Chris, Jennifer Salazar and husband Frankie, Johanna Burleson and husband Nic, Jackie Albright and husband Clay, Christi (Parrish) Evans and husband Eric, and Callie Parrish; nineteen great-grandchildren, Aeron Falknor, Amaris Falknor, Rachel Falknor, Joel Falknor, Sarah Falknor, Julie Johns, Caitlynn Johns, Taylor Salazar, Logan Salazar, Landon Salazar, Tanner Salazar, Lilana Froehner, Diego Froehner, Halie Silhan, Luke Silhan, Jaycie Silhan, Hayden Burleson, Luralie Albright, and Summer Evans; 1 great-great grandson and 1 great-great granddaughter; one sister Sue Schmadlel; four sisters-in-law Gertie Lou Gibson, Margie Gibson, Liz Gibson and Janie Gibson. She is also survived by a host of other family members and friends including brothers-in-law, Calvin Parrish and wife Janice, Paul Parrish and wife Jean, Cubby Parrish, and Thurmon Parrish and wife June.
Jane gave her family something very special: faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. She instilled in them faith, hope, and determination. She was generous with her love and encouragement.
She will be missed by all who knew her. We extend sincere gratitude for the loving and kind support from the staff of ResCare of Baytown (especially to Maggie and other aides), staff of Kindred Health care and special thanks to Dr. Dallal Abdelsayed for almost a decade of care.
A special thanks to Shirley Froehner for her devotion to her mother and her help to Carole Parrish in Jane's lengthy home care. In addition, Carole and Charles (Curtis Jack) wish to thank Ricky Acker, son to Jean and Paul Parrish for checking on Jane during the Katrina and Rita hurricane.
Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Midway Cemetery on Highway 190 between Livingston and Woodville.
Pallbearers will be David Falknor, Jr., Douglas Falknor, Charles Johns, Jerald Froehner, Charles Curtis Parrish III, and Eric Evans.
