Margaret Eulene Ward, 82, of Baytown went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Margaret was an active member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church since the early 1970's, volunteering in numerous ministries of the church through the years. She worked for 12 years as a secretary at the Johnson Space Center before leaving to be a full-time homemaker. She volunteered for a time at Sterling Library in the literacy program, at Harlem Elementary School and at Odyssey Hospice. She was also active in the Plumwood/Eva Maude Garden Club and as a volunteer at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ola Mae and Louis Ralph Taylor and her husband of 47 years, James E. Ward. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Diane Ward of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Elkins of Sonora, CA., and Cindy and Don Tarwater of Clayton, NC; grandchildren and spouses, Doyle and Amie Elkins, Damon and Jenne Elkins, Sean and Marla Elkins, Alison Tarwater and Rachel Tarwater; great grandchildren, Calvin Calsada,
Courtney Elkins, Megan Elkins, Kaylee Elkins and Austin Elkins.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, 3116 N Alexander Dr., Baytown, with Dr. Mark Broussard and Dr. E. Richard Steele officiating. Burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado, AR.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Bayou Baptist Church (designated to the Building Fund), 3116 N. Alexander Dr., Baytown, TX 77520, or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank Harbor Hospice, Cedar Bayou Baptist Church and all of Margaret's friends for their many expressions of love and kindness during her recent illness.
