Larry George Bennett, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep in Baytown, Texas on January 1, 2019. Larry was born April 2, 1952 to Edward Bennett and Mary Revils Bennett in Brownsville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jimmy, Curtis and Steven Bennett.
Larry worked in many fields throughout his life. He opened Air-Cooled Engines in Baytown with his brother in law Mickey Mickenheim. He then pursued numerous entrepreneurial ventures including building dome homes with his brother Gene Bennett; he worked on vending machines with his brother Steven Bennett; opened Sno-Time New Orleans style snowballs with his first wife Debbie Mickenheim Bennett Martin; and several other endeavors. He then moved into construction; slip-lining; and major highway and residential projects throughout the Houston area. He spent 17 years with Triple B Services in Huffman, Texas. He spent the last two years touring the country delivering RVs and hot-shot driving.
As his life progressed, his hobbies changed from surfing with Pat Berry, George Bounds and Steve Brown, to flying with his brother in law Keith Magill; driving his Harley; fishing with family; going to Nascar races with his son Larry Bennett, Jr.; and visiting casinos with his son in law Aaron Sawyer. He enjoyed listening and dancing to Britney Spears, Katy Perry and every other song loved by 13 year old girls! He was full of life, laughter, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Larry Jr. and Liz Bennett; daughter and son in law, Brandi and Aaron Sawyer; grand-children, Christopher and Katie, Cameron, Kaitlyn, Catherine, Eli, and Layla. He is also survived by his siblings, Gene and Ruth Bennett, Sandra and Keith Magill, and Carolyn Bennett Zlomke; his aunt, Patti Revils Howell; as well as several nieces and nephews. He loved so many, and was loved by all who met him. He will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas, 7752. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Navarre Funeral Home.
