Karen Margaret Wells

Karen Margaret Wells departed this world to take her place in heaven on August 13th, 2022. She passed from her life in peace after fighting the good fight against the brutal Alzheimer’s disease for 12 plus years.

Karen was born in Baytown, Texas, December 9th, 1952, and lived her entire life in Baytown. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in 1971. Among her many awards and accomplishments at Robert E Lee, she was the drum major of the Brigadiers. In 1975, she graduated from Texas Tech University and began her 31-year teaching career. While teaching elementary school, Karen added a master’s degree in Education from the University of Houston Clear Lake. Karen married Walter Wells in 1975. On May 30, 2022, they celebrated their 47th year of marriage.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Margaret Bultzo.

Karen is survived by her husband, Walter Wells, son Sean Wells, daughter-in-law Hannah Wells, grandchildren Harper, Calin and Ian Wells. Sister Jan Bultzo Merritt, nephew Charles Marshall, sister Denis French, brother-in-law Jimmy French, sister Kim Bultzo, sister Patricia Stapleton, brother-in-law Rick Stapleton, brother Christopher Bultzo, nephew Tyler Bultzo. Sister-in-law Kay Donner, brother-in-law Ted Donner, nephew Marc Donner, his wife Megan and baby Everly.

During her illness, Karen was surrounded by worldly angels for 7 plus years. Starting and continuing throughout, Martha Ramos was there, meeting the needs with love and compassion beyond belief. Teresita Jimenez, Rosa Silva, Martina Quezada, Gloria Villalobos and others were more like family than caregivers. Karen loved them all and her family is eternally grateful. Special thanks to Faith Community Hospice and all their staff.

Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home on Thursday, August 18th from 4:00-6:00 and a brief celebration of life from 6:00-7:00. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), No Kid Hungry (nokidhungry.org) or any children’s charity in honor of Karen’s devotion to working with kids.
