Joyce Antoinette Harris

Joyce Purvis Harris of Old River/Winfree, was called home to heaven on November 9, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born in Baytown, TX, on September 29, 1945, and grew up in Pelly, TX.

She was the cornerstone of her family, and she enjoyed being there for her friends, family and making the world a better place; she was also an active member of the Old River Baptist Church for several decades where she volunteered on different committees and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elton Harris, whom she married on June 23, 1972, and they enjoyed 39 years of a wonderful life together. In addition, she was preceded by her parents, Fox Hunter and Mildred Purvis; brother, Forrest Howard Purvis; and sister, Victoria Dean Kaderli.

She is survived by a large extended family that will miss her greatly, to include nieces, nephews and loving step-children and their families. Niece Denise and William Brown and their sons Forrest Caleb and Jessy Hester of Seabrook, TX, William Thomas and Stephen Andrew Brown of Waxahachie, TX; niece Dianne McCarty of Cedar Park, TX; niece Cheri Kaderli and her son Jonathon Dean Alvear of Old River/Winfree, TX; and nephew Forrest Glenn Kaderli and Brandi McKnight and their children Taylor Kaderli, Tucker Kaderli and Taylor McKnight of Liberty, TX. Loving step-children Mike and Kandi Harris of Old River/Winfree, TX and their children Jamie and Jeremy McCaffrey of Kingwood, TX and Jimmy Harris of Baytown, TX; Rebecca and Kenny Bowen of Graceville, FL and her daughters Mandy and Craig Tadlock of Graceville, FL and Sandy and Jarod Smith of Graceville, FL; and Lisa and Gary Sharp of Bryan, TX, and her sons Alan and Josie Weaver of Bryan, TX, James Ian and Amanda Sharp of Bryan, TX and Joshua and Stephani Sharp of Bryan, TX. And great grandchildren Carson Smith, Taylor Tadlock, Chloe Weaver, Michael Weaver, Lotus Weaver, Walker Weaver and James Alan Sharp; and many other extended friends and family as well.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at Earthman Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 10:00 am, at Earthman Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Reverend Danny Biddy of the Old River Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Cedar Crest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Rd., Baytown, TX 77521.
