Jimmy served in the United States Navy from 1964-1986 (22 years). Completed two tours in Vietnam as a field medic corpsmen with the Marine Corps where he received two Purple Hearts and one Silver Star. He went on to become a Physician Assistant (PA) with the Navy and completed his Bachelor's degree from George Washington University. He retired from the Navy in 1986 and went on the work in the petrochemical and oil & gas industry for 20 years as a safety professional for Brown & Root, Zachry, and BP. He retired in 2009. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, tinkering in his garage and around the house, watching the History Channel and Food Network, and spending time with his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Herman Stubblefield; brother, Patrick Cockerham and sister, Myrlene Stubblefield.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kay Stubblefield; Mother Earlene Russell; son, Michael Stubblefield and wife, Rebecca; daughter, Becky Bench; brothers, Alton Stubblefield and wife, Teresa, Terry Stubblefield and Alan Stubblefield and wife, Missy; step-mother, Ima Stubblefield and his grandsons, Logan Heintschel and Hayden Bench.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. also at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck TX.
