Jim Goodyear, 69, of Crosby, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Baytown. He was born November 6, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to his late parents, Clarence Frederick Goodyear, Sr. and Daisy Lenora Jarvis Goodyear.
Jim had lived in Crosby for the last 31 years, was a retired truck driver from TG&Y and the Woodard Trucking Company, a US Air Force Veteran and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #912 in Baytown and the Vietnam Veterans Association. Mr. Goodyear loved telling stories and fishing and he never met a stranger.
His survivors include his wife, Elizabeth ""Betty"" Goodyear of Crosby; children, James Goodyear, Jr. of Porter, Paul Goodyear and his wife Misty of Lancaster, Ohio, Candice Goodyear of Old River, Pam Garza and her husband Albert of Crosby and Thomas Goodyear and his wife Gina of Junction City, Ohio; brothers, Jerry Goodyear and his wife Dianna of Indianapolis, Indiana, Clarence Goodyear, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Walter Goodyear of Texas and Robert Goodyear of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at St. John's The Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Terrence Brinkman officiating. Burial will follow at the Houston National Veteran Cemetery in Houston.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Navarre Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be James Goodyear, Jr., Paul Goodyear, Stephen Walker, Torrence Loviette, Brandon Garza and Albert Garza.
