Janie was a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She was a hardworking migrant worker in the State of Texas. Some of the places her family traveled to were: Spur, Lubbock, Hereford, Pharr, LaGrange, Vernon, Hillsboro, and Floydada, Texas. They would pick cotton, spinach, cabbage, melons, onions, carrots, jalapenos, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Although working conditions were difficult in the scorching sun, she found ways to make the best of it by telling jokes, laughing, flirting with the boys, visiting other families, singing, and dancing. There was never a dull moment in her presence.
In 1970, her family settled in Baytown, Texas where she soon met and married Nicholas Samora. They started a family of their own and had three children. She was a devoted and caring mother for all her children and grandchildren.
The day she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease was heart breaking for all of her family members. She battled this disease for eleven years with the support of her family by her side. We give thanks and glory to God for blessing us with many family memories of our precious loved one who will always live in our hearts forever.
Janie enjoyed quiet days at home reading the Bible, working cross word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and coloring books. She loved visiting antique shops to find collectibles and to talk about “The Old Days.” Her excitement filled the room when she listened, sang, and danced to music. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her precious family. Janie was baptized at the First Apostolic Church in Highlands, Texas.
