James was born to Bobby and Lillie Hayes on November 2, 1955 in Baytown, Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Baytown. He graduated from Ross Sterling High School in Baytown Texas in 1974.
James was a jack of all trades and everyone who knew him, knew there was nothing he could not fix. He used to take apart things as a child so he could figure out how to put them back together again. James would rebuild bicycles as a child and repair clocks and radios. His sister remembers a time when they did open surgery on a teddy bear and removed the music box so he could figure out how it worked and she was the dr and sewed the bear back up. He was in his element if someone brought him any type of small engine to repair. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and cooking crawfish. James loved animals including his dogs Tommy, Bullet and Zee. He loved his family, most of all his son Brad.
James is preceded in death by his mother, Lillie and his father Bobby. James is survived by his son, Bradley Hayes of Baytown, and his granddaughter, Aria Jade Hayes of Baytown, and a sister, Sherry Ray and her husband Jerry Ray and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends and would especially like to thank Tina Williams.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 am, March 25, 2024 at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 12:30pm at Cedarcrest Cemetery on Ferry Road in Baytown.
