Howard Don Smith of Etoile, TX passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012.
He was born on January 29, 1933 in Goose Creek, TX (now Baytown) to Walter August and Hulda Smith. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High school in 1951. His first job was at Franta Pontiac in Highlands. He worked at Rohm & Haas in Deer Park, TX from April 25, 1955 until retirement on February 15, 1993. He was a charter member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Baytown. He married Shirley Jean Hallum on December 30, 1953. He and Shirley had 4 sons together before her death on October 9, 1970. He married Sibyl Faye Watson on January 27, 1973. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren in Scouting, YMCA sports, hunting and fishing, watching Nascar, and tinkering with his 1951 Chevy pickup. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sibyl, 4 sons; Douglas and wife Virginia, Terry and wife Diana, Eric and wife Erin, and Christopher and wife Joyce, along with 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.
