Gary Kay Bratsch, age 68, of Crosby, died Friday, January 31st, at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, February 7th, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home Funeral, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, Texas 77521. Services will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel with Father Preston Weatherly officiating.
Gary Kay Bratsch was born on November 14th, 1951, in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, to Lowell and Marvelyn (Krueger) Bratsch. He grew up on the family farm in Renville and graduated from Renville High School in 1969. After graduation, Gary moved to Texas to pursue a career in the marine shipping industry. Gary married Linda Forbes on April 7th, 1977, in Baytown, Texas. He began his career as a welder at Platzer Shipyard and eventually worked his way up to a crew supervisor position. He then moved to Kirby Inland Marine where he worked as a Barge Planner until his passing. Gary was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church for many years, and was an active member of many church boards and councils. When he wasn’t working, Gary enjoyed traveling, rebuilding cars, exploring genealogy, voraciously reading spy novels, relaxing outdoors, and spending time with his family.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Bratsch.
Gary is survived by his wife Linda, his mother Marvelyn Bratsch, his sons and daughter: James (and Linda) Buboltz,Keegan (and Michaela) Bratsch, Taylor Bratsch, and Marin Bratsch; his grandchildren: Jameson and Karlson Buboltz, and Natalie Bratsch; and his siblings: Gail Runke, Jeff (and Vicky) Bratsch, Russ (and Kris) Bratsch, and Cheryl (and Joel) Bakker.
