Ernesto was a veteran of the United States Marines. His main duty station was over-seas in Okinawa, Japan. In 1955 he was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division and sent to West-Pac. During his tour he was able to visit many places; Okinawa and Yokuska, Japan, Guam, Wake Island and Hawaii. While in the Marines he earned the rank of Corporal before the completion of his tour. He then began working for Esso Marine Department on the tug boat division for five years before deciding to start his own business as a cement contractor, where he worked the remainder of his life.
Ernesto enjoyed boxing from the time he was 15 years old, he even fought in Texas Golden Gloves and won in his weight class. He also loved spending time with family, his dogs, roosters and horses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Juana Garcia; and brothers, Robert and Richard Garcia.
He is survived by his children, Michael Garcia, Frank Garcia, Monica Escobedo, and Veronica Nasser.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Richard Garcia, Eddie Garcia, Leo Fuentes, Bobby Garcia, and Roland Garcia.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Earthman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562.
