Inez was born November 3, 1915 in Carlisle, Texas to James and Florence King. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and later attended Houston Beauty College where she received her license in cosmetology.
It was during her young years she met her childhood sweetheart and only love, Louie C. Gentry. The two were united in marriage on September 14, 1935. They shared a wonderful life of 52 years together residing in Highlands, Texas until his passing.
Along with being a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Crosby Chapter 261, a dedicated 35 years was spent as secretary, a position she felt honored to hold. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Highlands, and was also the secretary of Adult 4 Sunday School Dept. for many years.
Inez will be remembered not only as a faithful wife, loving sister, cherished Aunt, and loyal friend, but also a “soft spoken lady” who loved God, life, family and the joy she received while poking fun at friends.
She is survived by nephew, Robert Earl Dunaway of Houston, great nephews; Cliff and Paul Dunaway of Beaumont, and John Dunaway of Austin. A great niece Dee Ann Thigpen of Spring; and lifelong friends, Govenor and Margie Crawford, Norman and Molly Stutts, and Virginia Russo.
She was preceded in death by siblings Willard and Lee King, Edna Edgar, Lottie Dunaway, and Margie Gafford.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 9:00 A.M.-10:00A.M. at First Baptist Church in Highlands. The funeral Services will follow at 10:00AM in the sanctuary with graveside burial at San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery.
