Dwayne was born the oldest of four children of Gary Denton Jackson and the oldest of three children of Pamela Kaye Stalberger Schendel in Houston, TX, on June 3, 1966. He worked as a maintenance technician and pipe fitter for over 30 years. He had a passion for fishing and the outdoors and was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Dwayne was known as “Cowboy” to many of his family members, friends, and coworkers for his embracing of his country roots and his early years rodeoing.
As a teenager and young man, Dwayne lived and grew up in Baytown, TX. He met his wife, Theresa Ann Bender, in October 1994. They married on May 25, 1996 surrounded by friends and family. Dwayne had three children including sons Sean Jackson, Jared Bender, and daughter, Cheyenne Jackson.
Through the years, Dwayne enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, RVing, and spending time with his family. He loved taking his boat out with either his kids, his brother-in-law, or his fishing partner, Joh, to catch the next big one as well as making RV trips to the lake to camp, fish, and cook out with family and friends.
Dwayne and Theresa called the Baytown and Highlands area home for almost 30 years. Dwayne worked and made many friends in the plants around LaPorte, Pasadena, and in Baytown, TX. He was an uncommonly skilled worker both in the plants and at home and family members were always trying to get his help because of his perfectionism and beautiful work.
Being a father and grandpa came naturally to Dwayne. His grandkids loved spending time with Pawpaw and aggravating him when he tried to go to sleep by sliding their tablets under the door playing the Peanut Butter Jelly Time song. He loved playing and spending time with his kids and grandkids and showing his love for them through endless good-humored harassment and aggravation. In fact, his youngest grandchild, Cora, is convinced that he was the real-life Grinch.
Dwayne is survived by his wife, Theresa, his son, Sean Jackson and wife Star as well as their three children: DeVynn, Belle, and Cora, his son, Jared Bender, and his daughter, Cheyenne Jackson; his father, Gary Denton Jackson and wife Linda, his mother Pamela Kaye Stalberger Schendel and husband Paul, his siblings: Staci, Chad, Brandon, Michelle, and Stefani and their families, as well as numerous in-laws, and other close family and friends.
Dwayne passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Highlands emergency services professionals, hospital staff, as well as to numerous family members and friends who provided love, care, food, and support to them in their time of grief.
