Dorothy Barfield, 79, of Baytown was born April 24, 1931 in Ville Platte, LA and passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading and watching her chickens in her yard. She loved being with her family and was the family matriarch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Ruby Soileau; husband, Wayne Barfield; brother, Alvin Soileau; brother-in-law, B. W. Barfield; and niece, Trudy Boucher. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michle and James Machala of Baytown; sister, Verna Mae Barfield of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Kelli Miller of Katy, Clint and Patty Miller of Uvalde, Jason Machala of Humble, and Jamie Machala of Houston; great grandchildren, Ashton Cox of Katy, Breck Machala of Huffman, and soon to arrive, Madelyn Michle Miller; nieces, Kathi LaFour of Mont Belvieu and Rockell Thomas of Baytown; and numerous other family members.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at the pavilion at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010.
