Cecil Hubert “Hugh” Carter Jr. passed away Monday, July 4, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born March 18, 1925, in Baytown, Texas to Cecil H. and Vienna Mae Carter. He was an Operator with U.S.I. and a veteran of WWII where he served two years in the Merchant Marines and two years in the Army. He was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by the late Mary Dell Carter, sisters, Alice Lee Young, Olga Burnett, and Bernie Ash, grandson, Blake Carter, and son-in-law, Ira Thompson Jr. He is survived by his wife Bea Carter, son & daughter-in-law, Grady & Gloria Carter, daughters & son-in-law, Brenda Thompson, and Dian & Bill Jones, grandchildren, Donya Jones, Doug Jones, Angela Amrine, Alicia Harris, Ross Carter, & Brett Thompson, six great grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, 10:00 am at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Broussard and Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating. Burial will be at 12:00 noon at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington, Tx. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gordon Ashwood, Rankin Claunch, Leland Collins, Richard Whitaker, Gay Whitehead, and Ben Wilson.
We would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Dancel and Dr. Kahkeshani and the staff at Triumph Hospital in Baytown for all their kindness and support. Also, we would like to thank Nickie Gaston and Georgi Fae Coleman for their loving care and our friends at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church who so lovingly supported us at this time.
