Bill Garvey passed away at home at the age of 76 on June 26, 2022. Bill was a real family man and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 56 years (Barbara), a brother (David), a sister (Cindy), two daughters and sons in law, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many lifelong friends that he considered his family.
Bill believed in the “Work hard, play hard” motto. Once he came home from his time on the boat, there was always an adventure planned. From Family Reunions to Touring the East coast. There was always something to look forward to.
Bill loved everything about the water, whether it was a day at the beach, a trip to the lake, and afternoon on the chair looking at the bay, or the days and nights of his 50 years as a tugboat captain – it was where he found comfort, peace and joy. He finished his career with Kirby Inland Marine. In 2015, Kirby named a boat after him. It is a great comfort and honor to know that “Bill Garvey” will still be on the water for years to come and his legacy will live on.
Memorial service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Memorial Baptist Church (North Campus), 14120 TX-146, Dayton, TX 77535.
