Betty Jo McGilvray, 96, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on August 9, 2024. She was born in Pelly, Texas on October 11, 1927 to Joyce Broussard and Sherra W. Johnson. She was married to Richard (RL) McGilvray for 52 years. Betty worked hard at home, taking care of the kids until they were older. She then got a job working in retail at K-Mart and Sears.
She was a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church and has a passion for her family, gardening and crafts.
She was preceded in death by; her husband R.L. McGilvray and granddaughter Dorla Wooten.
She is survived by; her children Pat Gesford, Richard McGilvray and Jim McGilvray; grandchildren Ken Martin, Sean McGilvray, WIll McGilvray, Lauren McGilvray; great-grandchildren, Brittani Wooten, Katelyn McCoy, Jessica Lasher, Aubrey McGilvray, Liam McGilvray and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Thank you to Faith Community hospice and Swan Manor for taking such good care of mom during her stay at Swan Manor.
Officiating services will be Pastor Randy Piatt of Memorial Baptist.
Serving as pallbearers are Jim McGilvray, Colter Lasher, Will McGilvray, Ken Martin, Sean McGilvray, Mark Wooten and Richard McGilvray.
Services for Betty Jo McGilvray will be held at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. The family will receive guests at visitation on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home and graveside service will be held at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.
