Andrew Manuel Dahlquist 90, of Baytown, Texas passed away October 7, 2013. Andrew was born in Cedar Bayou, Texas April 2, 1923 to Albert and Mary (Smith) Dahlquist. Andrew married the love of his life Evelyn (Bradbury) Dahlquist on January 8, 1942. They shared 70 years of life together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Serving most of the time in Germany and was wounded in action 30 miles from Berlin. While serving he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, 3 Battle Campaign. He was received honors from French Free Army and 1st Canadian Army. After recovering from a gunshot wound, he was sent home with a medical discharge. He worked at for Exxon for 37 ½ years, retiring in 1982. He saw many changes in the history of the country in the years that he lived on this earth. He lived through many heart aches, and many good times. He lived a good life. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, and believed in God and life in the hereafter. Andrew believed that if you serve God, he will carry you through life.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Dahlquist and his parents Albert and Mary Dahlquist. His brother Leonard Dahlquist, and sisters Mamie Day, Alma Hearn, Hazel Nelson, Opal Bumpass, and Doris Fennell.
He is survived by his daughter Sylvia Spears, Mary and John Strown and his son Tony and Kris Dahlquist Sr., sister Vida Partin. Grandchildren Andy and Gail Spears, Jay and Andi Spears, Kerrie and Rick Larkin, Tony and Kriste Dahlquist Jr., Alicia and Tony Fernandez, Tracy Strown, Johnna and Nathan Morris. Great Gandchildren William and Matthew Spears; Riley and Bailey Spears; Aubrey, Blake, and Cole Larkin; Kaylee and Kenner Dahlquist; Tony Fernandez. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, form 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road; Baytown, TX.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Andy Spears, John Strown, Rick Larkin, Tony Dahlquist Jr, Danny Davenport, and Jerry Franklin. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Murff and all the members of Eastside Church of Christ.
Officiating the services will be Tony Mauck. Lindall Murff will lead the congregation in hymn.
