Dr. Williams Davis “Bill” Wall IV, 87, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died at his home on the morning of March 12, 2023. Bill was the son of Dr. Williams Davis Wall III and Marie Bernice Bouanchaud Wall. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret “Mag” Boykin Wall. He is also survived by his three children, Craig Wall (Kim), Kathleen “Sissy” Stephens (Ralph) and Linda Whitson (Charlie); nine grandchildren, Kacie Wall Brown, James “Jimmy” Wall, Stephen Wall, Andrew Stephens, Joseph Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Davis Whitson, Douglas Whitson, and Thomas Whitson; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Brown and Emma Brown; a brother, Robert Stephen “Steve” Wall and his wife Sydney. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Roy Wall.
Bill graduated from LSU and LSU Medical School. He then served two years as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, followed by a Residency in Urology at Hermann Hospital and MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. Bill began his private practice in Urology in Baton Rouge which he maintained for over 40 years. Bill was active in the East Baton Rouge Medical Society, serving a term as president. He was a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, American Medical Association and the American Urological Association.
Bill served on the Board of the Big Buddy Program in its infancy and was a Captain of Manresa House of Retreats for many years. He and Mag also worked with couples preparing for marriage with the St. Aloysius Evenings for the Engaged program.
He was an avid fisherman, traveling down to the marshes of south Louisiana most Thursdays with his long-time fishing buddy, Richard Robin. His other favorite time on the water was at the family camp on False River teaching his children how to ski and pulling his grandchildren tubing behind his boat.
Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Church on Saturday, March 18 beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 am.
