William Walker “Bill” Liddell, Jr., born January 8, 1927, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side at 8:45am on October 10, 2013. Born in Shreveport, LA, he is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years Rita McIntire Liddell, daughter Karen Liddell Rimes and husband John William Rimes of Baton Rouge, son William Walker Liddell III and wife Barbara of Mandeville, son Stephen Liddell and wife Janice of Plano, TX, a sister Ramona Alford Darden, and a brother Larry Liddell. He was “Pee Paw” to eight grandchildren: Tanya Pritchard, Jolynn Sloane, William Walker Liddell IV, Laurie Larpenteur, Courtney Bourgeois, Lyndsay Bastion, Kate Bourgeois, and Erica Liddell, and 15 great grandchildren. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1953 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. His career took him to over 65 countries. Bill proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge and the wonderful care givers at Amber Terrace Assisted Living Facililty. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Friday, October 11, 2013, from 2 PM until service at 3 PM. Final interment pending with Forest Park Funeral Home in Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Philip United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas or charity of choice.
