Randy was born on July 26, 1956 at Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA. and on February 28, 2022 in the bottom of the ninth, with two outs and the bases loaded, Randy hit a grand slam right into the arms of Jesus. He spent his younger years in Cotton Valley, LA. His elementary, high school and college years were spent in Natchitoches, La. where he graduated from Natchitoches Central High School. Randy earned a degree in education from Northwestern State University and a master’s degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe. His first coaching job was at Montgomery High School where he coached girls basketball and football. He left coaching one year to become Congressman Jerry Huckaby’s congressional aide for Louisiana’s fifth district. Deciding that politics was not for him, he returned to coaching and became the head baseball coach at Natchitoches Central. While working the LSU baseball camps in Baton Rouge, he met Skip Bertman. Coach Bertman persuaded him to leave Natchitoches and become his graduate assistant. He coached LSU baseball for three years and in 1991 was hired as the pitching coach at the University of South Carolina. In 1995 he became the head baseball coach at Louisiana Tech. In 1998 he left the coaching profession and entered the financial world. He founded Infinity Financial and enjoyed helping people manage their money. Randy loved people and he loved helping others. He was a wonderful storyteller and kept many an audience enthralled with baseball stories.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Elise Davis, a sister Susan Howell, father-in-law, Bobby DeBlieux and brother-in-law, Troy Mayeaux. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cammie, son, William Davis and wife Danielle, daughter, Lindsey Davis and son, Cody Davis. He is also survived by his precious granddaughters Everly and Coco Davis, one brother Jimmy Davis and his wife Beverly, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dene’ and David Mathies, a brother-in-law Gary Howell and a very special friend Nancy Tomasich. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family will miss him dearly.

Services will be held on Monday, March 7, at University Baptist Church with visitation from 11am – 1pm with the service at 1. Burial will be immediately following at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Byrd, Rick Greene, Curt Leskanic, Ben McDonald, John O’Donoghue, Chad Ogea, Ronnie Rantz, and Brian Rountree.
