Wendell Wilson Blackwell a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. He was known as "Black" with those he worked and "Ben" with friends and family. His homegoing was quick and peaceful and was the end of a life here on earth that was well lived and that touched and blessed many lives. Ben was a charter member of Lanier Baptist Church where he served as financial secretary for many years and had been currently serving as deacon. He retired from Ethyl Corp. where he worked for more than 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Elsie Andrews Blackwell, in 2001; son, Wendell Wesley "Boots" Blackwell; brother, Dick Blackwell; and sisters, Grace Blackwell, Weneva "Dude" Blackwell Williams, Sue Blackwell Carter and Ruth Blackwell Duncan. He is survived by his brother, Joe "Jim" Blackwell; son, Dennis Andrews Blackwell; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at Lanier Baptist Church on Friday, Nov. 18, starting at noon until services at 2 p.m. Internment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
