Warner attended LSU upon graduating from high school and went on to retire from Exxon Mobil after 30 years of service as a machinist. He loved collecting pelicans and even hand carved a couple out of wood that are gorgeous family keepsakes. He enjoyed working outdoors building and repairing various items. If it was fixable, he could always fix it. He absolutely loved traveling with his wife and attending events involving the grandkids. Weekends were filled with family fun and making special memories no matter the occasion. He had a heart of gold and adored his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beverly Herrin King, a daughter, Aimee King Cowart (Robert) of Denham Springs, stepdaughters, Charla Atkins Carter of OH, Lori Atkins of Baton Rouge, a stepson, Robert Atkins of FL and a brother, Michael King (Cyndee) of Walker. Grandchildren, Mitch Hopkins (fiance Dr. Janey Noble), Rachel Hopkins Fischer (Mitchell), Bart Hopkins and Cain Hopkins, all from Baton Rouge, Patrick Harvey (Anna) of VT, Michelle Cowart Bauer (Mika) and Ashley Cowart, both of Denham Springs. Nicole Babin and Corey Drell, both of Baton Rouge, although not related, have shared in all family gatherings, events and game nights. Great Grandchildren, Henry Harvey and Chloe Harvey all from VT, Kailey and Claire Bauer, Baize Branch and Shalie David all from Denham Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner Lawson King, Gladys King Lindsey, a brother, Douglas King and a grandson Bryan Harvey.
