Born Dec 2, 1932 in Alia Sicily. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge. passed away at his home after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Danna Dispenza, one brother, Salvatore Dispenza of England; one sister, Cosimina Inguaggiato of Italy; niece, Sandy Dispenza Martin of Baton Rouge; and other numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Vincenzo and Santino Dispenza of Alia Italy; one brother, Giuseppe Dispenza of Baton Rouge. A gentle man, kind, generous and always willing to help others with his time and advice. He was also known for his avid interest in history, Italian heritage and for gardening. He made many friends and loved talking about Italy. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Among his many accomplishments he formed an international organization of immigrants of Alia, Italy his birthplace. He formed the committee that brought the Columbus statue which stands in downtown to Baton Rouge. Established a Professorship in Italian studies at L.S.U. Raised funds to build a Church in his home town of Alia, helped numerous friends to arrange travel plans to Sicily and Italy. He was a member of the G.B.R. American Italian Assn. Grand-sons of Italy, Cefalutana Society, The American Italian Federation, Aliese Nel Mondo(Alia People of the World). Special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice, Carpenter House, Audubon Home Health, A First Name Basis and Ochsner Clinic and Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, March 27, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 until 8 and Saturday from 9 until 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11, following with burial at Roselawn.
