Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24). Vernon stepped out of this life into the arms of Jesus August 31, 2023 after a long, well lived life. He was 95 years old. He was born June 25, 1928 in Livonia, LA to Vernon Lee Blanchard, Sr and Noemi (Marroy) Blanchard. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After an Honorable Discharge he went to work for Gulf States Utilities rising to position of Superintendent of Operations at Louisiana Station. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ella Louise Blanchard, son, Larry Blanchard, brother, Wade Blanchard, and great grandson, Bradley Lovell. He is survived by his children; Barbara Jean Blanchard, Doug Blanchard (Orlinda), Randy Blanchard, Sr, Sandy (Ned) Ladner and his daughter-in-law Penny Blanchard. He was Poppa to 11 grandchildren; Tori (Jarred) Berthelot, Brent (Roci) Blanchard, Randy (Darrian) Blanchard, Chris (Lisa) Blanchard, Rebekah (Blake) Carter, Travis Ladner, Anna (Jordan) Mentzer, Todd (Lauren) Ladner, Brady Blanchard (fiancée Kelsey), Lynley (Josh) Rhodes and Sarah Lovell. Twenty six great grandchildren; Katy Simmons (fiancée Caleb), Alyssa (Jonah) Seaman, Caden, David, and Harley Lovell, Myles, Bailey, and Shelby Berthelot, Lawson, Aubree, Randy, III, Brayden, Braxton, Brystol, Elizabeth, Easton and Ivy Blanchard, Hayes Carter, Hadley and Lincoln Ladner, Ella Catherine, Molly and Jordan Mentzer, Maggie, Avery, and Thomas Rhodes. Special friend, Liz Berigi and former daughter-in-law, Cindy Blanchard. Pallbearers are his grandsons.
