Tony Martinez finally had enough of the hospital food and passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 just 2 days before his favorite kid’s birthday, Thanks dad! He didn’t leave behind a lot of bills, but we have to figure out what to do with his LSU baseball tickets, all these tiger pictures, and some old Marine Corps stuff he got from a trip to Vietnam. He also left behind a crazy wife, handful of children he made and some he didn’t, as well as a busload of grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 brothers and a sister. His wife couldn’t cook the 40 years they were together so we know he will look forward to eating his mother’s cooking now along with his father, and other family. Tony was a good man with a big heart. He was a friend, coach, and mentor to many, but his favorite title was Papa Tony. He will be greatly missed. Come give us awkward hugs and handshakes at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on Sunday October 3rd at 2pm. We will have a service after at 4pm. If you are coming, wear some purple and gold. And don’t send flowers, we don’t want them. Send something we can plant in our yards. Now we just need to agree on who has to take care of mom.
