Sylvia Bruce Brown, born January 22, 1918 was a native of Galvez, La and a resident of Prairieville, La. Sylvia passed away on February 22, 2013 at the age of 95 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She retired as a bookkeeper from LSU Experimental Station in Plaquemines Parish in 1978. She resided most of her life in Port Sulphur, La where she lived with her husband, Ralph T Brown, Sr and raised their six children. She is survived by her children, Ralph T "Tommy" Brown, Jr and wife Shirley of Clanton, Al; Geneva B Ross and husband Donnie of Kenner, La, James H Brown and wife Marilyn of Kenner, La, Patricia B Davis and husband Roger of Natchez, MS, George F Brown of Baton Rouge and Abbie B Thomas and husband George of Monroe, La. Sylvia was blessed with 13 grandchildren; Danielle Case of Kenner, La, Terri Farris of Clanton, AL, Ralph Ross of Mandeville, La, Kyle Brown of Bay St Louis, MS, Tracy Gati of San Antonia, TX, Joshua Thomas of Monroe, La, Angela Davis of New Orleans, La, Renee Davis of Natchez, MS, Jonathan Thomas of Bossier City, La, Natalie Brown, of Baton Rouge, Rebecca Davis of Ridgeland, MS, Joseph Thomas of Monroe, La, Kaitlin Thomas of Monroe, La, and 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews; sister Myrtle Evans of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ralph T Brown, Sr; her parents, Lawrence and Effie Bruce; siblings, Libby Maggio, Coleen Nicholas, Sonny Bruce, and Alpha Stevens; grandchildren Craig Brown, Jerry Brown, Mike Brown, and Steve Brown. She was a member of Broussard Grove Baptist Church in Prairieville, La. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Monday February 25, 2013 from 12:00pm until service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel by the Rev Charles Marceaux. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joshua Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Ralph Ross, Matthew Ross and Woody Smith.
