Susan Henry Jones passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024. She was born August 21, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Tara High School and attended both Louisiana State University and Southeastern Louisiana University. She worked in the medical field at Woman’s Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. She later devoted her time towards volunteering, event planning, and fundraising for non-profit organizations. Susan was a past board member and past state president for the Louisiana State Chapter of P.E.O. She was also a past president of her local chapter, Chapter BD. Through this organization she contributed to providing grants and loans to women that desired to further their education. Susan was also a sustaining member of Junior League of Baton Rouge, a chairman of Cancer Services’ Capital Chefs’ Showcase, an advisor to the Louisiana Arts and Science Center Gala, and a chairman of Magnolia Mound’s Market Days. In addition, she worked with the prison fellowship ministry through First Presbyterian Church. Susan is survived by her mother, Barbara McLoud Henry of Baton Rouge; her daughters Jacquelyn Wilson (Brandon); and Kimberly Carroll (Casey); and five grandchildren Tenley Wilson, Piper Wilson, Tucker Wilson, Ryker Carroll, and Blakely Carroll. She is preceded in death by her father Stephen G. Henry, Jr. Susan will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, volunteering in the Baton Rouge community, and loving adoration for her friends and family. Special thanks to the caregivers and staff of Landmark South of Baton Rouge, Sunrise Senior Living, and the caring teams of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet. Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service. Both will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802. Memorial donations can be made in Susan’s name to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge or Cottey College of Nevada, Missouri.
