Sit L. Wong, 67, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2022. He was born in Ipoh, Malaysia, and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1973 to pursue his dream of becoming an architect. He graduated from Louisiana State University School of Architecture in 1978. In 1981, Sit joined the firm of Bodman, Webb, and Noland, which was originally established in 1934 as Bodman and Murrell. He was named partner in 1985, then became president of Noland & Wong in 2005. He merged with Domain Design Architecture in 2013 as the Principal Architect of the firm. He was an active member of AIA, CSI, IFMA, Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, YMCA, and Baton Rouge History Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents Tai Wah Wong and Kwee Chin Kok. He is survived by his devoted wife Anne Hendershot Wong; son Michael (Jamie); daughter/”Baby Girl” Carolyn (Nick); sisters Ying Qualls (Kenny) and Soon Leong (S.W.), brother Kong (Yong Mai); grandchildren: Thomas, Nathan, Julia, and Austin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, golf buddies, and friends whom he loved dearly.
Sit will be sorely missed as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather, Grandaddy, mentor, and leader of his community. His legacy of humility and love will forever be felt in the lives of those he left behind. His motto, “Life is good”, was what he embodied on a daily basis. His love for family, good food, golf, Macallan, and travel was unparalleled as he strived every day to live life to the fullest.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Wednesday September 7. Visitation is at 9 AM followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LSU Foundation at lsufoundation.org/give, or to EBRP Chapter Southern University Alumni Federation, Golf Tournament Scholarship, “Team Sit Wong”, at P.O.
